*Whirlwind's played against Guildford's Hurricane equivalents*
Out-gunned, but not deflated!
The Guildford squad were strong, well drilled and really did command play throughout. There was some lovely play to admire: some great taps into goal from their forward on the post, aerial shots straight into the goal corners, set-ups running the backline - all of which saw them steal a 14-0 victory.
On such a cold day, Maddi was certainly kept warm and had a great game, saving twice (+) as many more than got through. Clare's cool head at the back cleared many attacks and Alice's new found skills at man marking really closed down the rate of scoring! A big contrast to last week, our mid-field and forwards played a much more defensive game - our only real shot by Meghna was sadly saved - in style.
Despite the score, the girls continued with determination til the end, which was great to see.
MOM: Tierney (who got a knock to the head and was last seen on the way to Guildford A&E) - we all wish her well.
Next week, our next league game of the year - we're undefeated in league matches this year, so looking forward to some more great play next week.
Thanks
Deborah
