Not our best performance, but showed good character to come back from 2-1 down.

Having had 3 weeks off since our last game (perhaps we needed it given that result) this was bound to be a tough game against a Pyford side who although are second bottom, had picked up their first win with an impressive result against Milford Green in their last game.

It didn't look like we were suffering from any post Christmas hangover though as we put Pyford straight under pressure and James Bauldry won a free kick 25 yards from goal. Up stepped Tom Davis and he found the top corner with a superb free kick.

We had chances to add to our lead as Lorenzo Favata hit the post after fine work from Joey Stevens and Bauldz hit the bar with a header from a corner. Odgie also sliced a good chance wide, Joey had a shot saved and Alex Palinski missed after getting in behind their defence.

Pyrford were having their fair share of possession, but were creating little of note until they scored from a free kick just before half time after a soft foul had been given against Bauldz.

The home side then took the lead early in the second half from another free kick and we were facing a shock result to start 2013 with.

For 15 minutes we were struggling to create much so Matt changed the shape of the team and made two substitutions.

This combined with the fact we were perhaps showing greater fitness and energy than our hosts soon saw us begin to carve Pyrford open.

The equaliser came from a Joey corner that Robbie Wilson met with a low shot and when the rebound fell back to him he fired across goal and Odgie was there to coolly divert home.

Now we began to crank up the pressure and Odgie fired narrowly wide after a fine move down our right hand side. Joey was also denied by a decent save.

When the winner arrived it came from an unlikely source. Joey did brilliantly do get to the byline and deliver a cracking low cross that Giles Smith tapped home to end a goal drought going back to late 2011.

We saw out the remaining 10 minutes or so with little incident to pick up a vital win.

This was not a good performance by us. A few of us were showing signs of rust and carrying a few extra pounds amassed over Christmas, but we dug in and fought back.

Pyford were much improved from when we played them earlier in the season so the win is what is important. The narrow manner of the victory is irrelevent.

Next up we face Brookwood in what will be a sterner test.

MoM - Odgie - Two goals were crucial in what was a bit of an off day for the team. Joey did well too and his assist for the winner was excellent.

Thanks to Dan, Ads and Steve for running the line and to Andy and Tom for filming/supporting.
