After a dramatic 4-4 draw, Woking beat Weybridge on penalties.

Our first game at 'The New Berger' saw a friendly match: Woking vs Weybridge.

The two teams consisted of a mix of current players and legendary ex players. 6 of the Inductees to our Hall Of Fame played in the game, plus a plethora of former award winners.

All bar one of the legends invited to play showed up, but Weybridge were left without a goalkeeper which meant centre back James Bauldry started in goal (thanks Baulders).

Giles Smith was in charge of the Weybridge squad, while Matt Gibbins' Woking squad was managed by the injured Andy Harwood.

Weybridge defied their underdogs tag throughout the game and flew out of the traps taking the lead inside 2 minutes. A good move involving Sam Slee, Dan Wicks and Tom Fraser saw Sam tap home the easiest of finishes.

It was 2-0 to Weybridge just before the 20 minute mark as Sam tapped home from close range again following some calamitous Woking defending.

Woking got themselves back into the game a few minutes later as Robbie Wilson fired home from Mark Strong's corner.

They levelled just before half time following a poor decision to give them a free kick down the right. Weybridge failed to cleasr Steve Holbrook's delivery and Alex Palinski showed bravery to beat Baulds to the ball and flick over him.

The second half started very similar to the first, with Weybridge on the front foot and Lorenzo Favata restored their lead, prodding past Matty B in goal.

It was 3-3 midway through the second half as a slick Woking move saw Joey Stevens cut across goal to give Bakez a tap in.

On 80 minutes it looked like Woking had found the winner. Baulds (now playing outpitch), found Rory McCarron who clipped a lovely ball through to Wicksy. With Matty B rushing out, Wicksy coolly lobbed over him.

Woking continued to plug away and just before full time they won a penalty that Joey Stevens typically fired home to take it to the shootout.

The penalty shootout went as followed:

Joey missed horribly. Rory scored for Weybridge. 0-1.

Bakez scored. As did Luca. 1-2.

Strongie saw his saved by Baulds, but Lorry then missed toofired high and wide.

Matty B scored and then saved Rog's penalty. 2-2.

Odgie and Frase both scored. 3-3.

Wils and Richardy both fired home confidently. 4-4.

Belch's penalty just evaded Baulds and Ben Williams missed with the worst penalty of the lot to give Woking the win 5-4 on penalties.

As Weybridge manager I felt we deserved to win today, but credit to Woking for fighting back 3 times to eventually winning. It was great fun though and that is what matters.

All in all this was a fantastic occasion and we were delighted to see so many ex players come down. Thanks to all of you for your contributions over the years and helping us be the club we are.

As for the current players, we hope this gave you an insight into the history we are bulding here. We are really looking forward to 13/14 and think we can be very successful. The foundations are there for a great season with a lovely new pitch and a strong squad.

Bring on 13/14.
