Whites lead 1-2 at half time, but eventually fall to 4th straight defeat.

We travelled, in the end, to Stoke Rec in Guildford for this clash against League leaders and all round nice chaps Black Prince.j

After a shambolic morning of going to the wrong ground and then having to wait for a women's match that should not have even been taking place to finish, we took to the field at 11:15 full of optimism that we could cause an upset.

This optimism spurred a fine first half performance. It was as well as we have played this season as we stuck to our gameplan to near perfection.

We took the lead 15 mins in through in form Pikeo. Naylor won a tackle on halfway and the ball went straight through to Sam who kept his composure before smashing a fine finish in at the near post.

Samo was at it again with 10 minutes remaining in the half as we again hit Prince on the counter with Harwood threading a neat ball through to Pikeo. This time he had a fair way to run, on this long old pitch, but he remained cool and slotted low past the keeper for his 4th goal in 3 matches. Sam has really found his stride in the past 3 weeks.

Black Prince were as we expected. How can I put this kindly. They were mouthy and physical as normal. Their best chances only really came from communication mishaps on our part. They looked anything but the best team in this division.

Unfortunately we let them back in the game just before the interval where a slight error by Crosby Snr was punished by a cute finish, despite Matt's best efforts in goal.

Into to the second half, and to their credit (pains me) Prince upped their game. They also made two tactical changes which were to help nullify our main threats. It was certainly intelligence that belied their demeanour. Taking off that chubby right back who Sam had made look very stupid, was something of a masterstroke.

As we all know they managed to turn the game on it's head and eventually run out 4-2 winners, scoring two goals in the last 15 minutes, the second of which came in injury time to add some gloss that flattered them.

It was hard to see where it all went wrong. This time we were undone by some superb finishing, rather than our own errors, but I do feel their superior fitness levels saw them through, while we rather hit the wall.

There were quite a few performances of note. Matt did really well in goal, mopping up nicely and also making a couple of great saves, one of which was a bit of a 'worldy'. Again we defended pretty well too.

Harwood also produced his best performance in a long time and looked to have some of his old confidence back, which was good to see. He had a fine tactical game in the holding role. Rory was his usual busy self and Sam scored two excellent goals and is our form player currently.

Obviously we are all disappointed at the moment and we should be as a real chance passed us by today. However, in the coming days I think we will come to realise that today we truly showed what we are capable of and that there were some real positives to take from the game.

That 'complete performance' that we are striving for still eludes us, but time is on our side. Mayford at home next week looks like another good opportunity to me.

TRIFFIC: Could have gone to Sam for his first goal, but has instead gone to Matt, yes MATT, for that outstanding save.

POOR: Difficult today, but as I make the rules I am giving it to Rich, who failed to record our good stuff in the first half, because he was having a chat with some random bloke behind our goal. He did though record the second half... oh, shit... thanks Rich (I don't care if you claim I could have filmed it btw. It's your fault).

MOM: Samo - fine attacking display.
