WWFC controlled the majority of the match against Mayford, but fail to take chances and eventually are held to 2-2 draw.

Weather wise this was a game to two halves, but the match was a very one sided affair in every effect but the scoreline.

WWFC welcomed back Sam Slee from a long term knee injury and Chris Smith from his toe injury.

We started brightly, but the first clear chance fell to them, although it was created by us. Matt came out to clear a routine ball, but slipped and flicked the ball up for their striker. Fortunately his acrobatic effort went wide.

Then we began to really click into gear, playing some fine football at times. That said we took a deserved lead from a set piece. Ror won us a free kick in a great area and he dispatched a superb right foot curler that found the far top corner. Fantastic strike, Ror's 6th of the campaign.

Such was our superiority, chances were coming at regular intervals. Pikeo had a low shot saved well by the keeper, Ski blazed over whilst in a great position after an excellent move and then an even better move saw Strongy cross for Pikeo, but unfortunately Samo could only get his nether regions to the ball and they didn't quite have the power to force the ball over the line.

Mayford nearly levelled on the counter, but their striker shot wide.

Then came the deluge and it claimed a victim, inadvertantly as Silvio's ankle buckled and he had to come off at half time, which was a big blow.

Into the second half and again it was us playing the quality football. Ror hit the post with a long range shot, Pikeo was denied again by the keeper and Tom narrowly missed a clear chance after nice slotted ball by Strongy.

Needless to say we were punished. Caught far too high up the pitch, a through ball saw their striker in and this time he found the bottom corner leaving Matt no chance.

This sparked a mad 5 minutes that saw Mayford take the lead. It was a good low finish by their midfielder, but we should have dealt with the long throw.

Given our recent record, this really could have turned sour from here, but instead we went straight back up the other end and Strongy was denied by a decent save by their keeper at the near post.

Our pressure continued and eventually Strongy won a free kick in a similar position to Ror's first half goal. This time his strike wasn't quite as clean, but a combination of Tom's run and the ball bouncing right in front of the keeper, saw their stopper deceived and Ror had his 2nd of the day.

Chances continued to come our way, the best of which falling to Pikeo after a fantastic ball by Ski, this time his shot going narrowly wide.

It was just a bad day at the office in front of goal for us. Obviously this was a game we should have won comfortably. I am probably forgetting other opportunities, because there were so many.

Mayford, who have been on a good run recently, can count themselves incredibly fortunate to escape with a point.

There were some really good performances today. Matt, a couple of dodgy moments aside, did very well in difficult conditions in goal. Sam had a good return to action at the back and Chris Smith had arguably his best game in WWFC colours at right back.

In midfield Ror was talismanic in a MOM display, while only a goal denied Pikeo a complete winger's performance - he was that good today. Strongy have us a real creative edge too.

Today we showed how good a footballing team we can be and there were plenty of positives to take. Even the result can be taken in a positive way, given we ended our 4 game losing run and also ended an 8 game run of conceeding 3 or more goals.

That said we let a great chance of 3 points slip today and have now gone 6 without a win. Currently we find ourselves in a bit of a relegation scrap, but continue to play like this and we should start winning matches.

Thanks to Dan, Ben and Rich for running the line. Apologies to Ben for not getting much time on the pitch. That is though guaranteed to improve in coming weeks...

TRIFFIC - Ror's free kick. Absolute blinder.
CYGAN - Matt for trying to take a goal kick left footed, slipping and nearly gifting them a goal. Shocking.

MOM - Rory - great way to sign off before suspension.
