WWFC make it 5 wins from last 7 games with a comfortable 0-1 win at Milford Green.

Today was a potential banana skin for us playing against a Milford Green team that are yet to win in the League this season.

We came through the test in positive fashion with a win that was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.

Skipper Oli and Richardy were the only absentees from the squad that beat The Castle so impressively and Odgie fell victim to his birthday celebrations and failed to make the game.

It was clear that the pitch was not the best, but it was huge so we would get time on the ball and early on we kept it pretty well without creating a clear cut chance.

After 20 minutes we took the lead. The move started with James Simpson down the right who passed inside to Adam Miles. Ads kept the ball moving on to Dan Wicks who supplied Luca Mortellaro down the left. He cut inside his man and fired a decent shot from the edge of the box and when the keeper blocked it with his legs it flew up to Joey Stevens who volleyed home instinctively from 15 yards. It was a cracking little finish with his left foot.

We had some good chances to kill the game off before half time, but failed to take them. Firstly Luca was found by Joey's cutback, but his fiery shot was really well saved by the keeper at the near post. Wicksy had a header from a corner cleared off the line. Then Alex Zammit blazed over from Joey's lovely dinked cross and finally Zam supplied Joey who cut inside and shot just wide with his left foot.

Milford created nothing of note in the first half, but we had given them hope by not putting the game to bed.

The pattern of the first half continued in the second. Luca was denied by a great save by the keeper and Zam made a mess of a chance after linking up superbly with Joe.

Damian Lynch was called into action from a long ranger which he held really well as we continued to spurn chances.

Giles Smith's low shot was palmed away, Joey had a shot well blocked and lively substitutes Charlie Elliott (low one on one saved) and Giancarlo Mortellaro (headed over) both came close.

In the last few minutes we had one scare as Milford played a pass behind our back 4, but Damo beat the striker to the ball impressively and we saw the game out in mature fashion, keeping the ball in their half as they tired.

It was a good result that could have been emphatic, but what was important was we kept a clean sheet and rarely looked troubled as our fine recent defensive displays continued.

That's 3 wins from the last 4 in the League.

MoM: Silv - Barely put a foot wrong defensively and distributed the ball really well from the back. All of the back 5 were solid.

Thanks to Andy for filming and to Charlie/Carlo/Luca for running the line.
