Reds equal record for most goals scored in a game as they cruise into League Cup quarter final.

Having played out two very tight encounters with Woking & Maybury this season we were expecting another hard fought game in the 'Woking &' Derby with a quarter final place up for grabs in the Twyford Pollard Cup.

However this would end up one of our most crushing victories as we took forward the form shown in the last half an hour against Ripley and showed how good we can be when we get out passing game going.

The first quarter of the game was very even and there were no signs that we would outclass the visitors so comfortably.

Both teams hit the woodwork early on. Tom Davis' superb free kick had the keeper well beaten, but it hit the underside of the bar before Toby Maher was denied by a good save on the rebound. Then at the other end their striker got in behind, although looking well offside, but dragged his shot onto the post as Damian Lynch closed the angle down.

Just after the 20 minute mark we grabbed the lead and it was a stylish opener. James Simpson threw the ball into Robbie Wilson who passed on to Alex Zammit. Zam laid off to Odg who fizzed a ball to Wils who had made a good run into the box where he played an intelligent ball back inside to Odg who curled home into the roof of the net in slick fashion. This was us at our best going forward.

W&M responded brightly to going behind, but having dealt with a few attacks we doubled our lead as Zam's low cross from the right found Joey Stevens at the back post who took a touch before firing home into the bottom corner.

2 became 3 shortly after. We worked the ball from left to right and Jay's well delivered cross took a slight deflection and fell to Wils who smashed home his 4th of the campaign.

The next goal was going to be crucial and it was us who killed the game off early in the second half. Adam Miles fought for and won possession down our left hand side and found Richard Crosby who passed to Joey on the wing. He laid the ball inside to Odg who played a one two with Richardy before spreading the play to skipper Oli Cochrane down the right. He looked up and played a cracking long ball over the top to Tob who controlled well before firing through the keeper's legs for his first goal of the season.

Some comedy defending on our part allowed W&M to instantly reduce arrears, but thankfully they 'OutSundayLeagued' us a minute later as their keeper stumbled while trying to collect a back header, fell over and dropped the ball to Tob who gambled and tapped home.

Our next goal started with Giles Smith in midfield as he clipped a ball to Joey down the right and his low cross was superb, finding Zam at the backpost for a tap in.

Wils then turned provider in similar fashion to Joey and Zam was once again on hand to finish off at the backpost and become the first WWFC player to make it to double figures for goals in 14/15.

Our visitors reduced arrears soon after. Damo had made a fine smothering save earlier in the build up to deny their right winger, but eventually the ball fell to their midfielder who's precise low left foot effort found the corner. Gilo looked like he was fouled shortly before hand as he tried to clear, but with the score at 7-2 it was not a huge issue.

Joey got his second of the morning a few minutes later. Richardy's long ball evaded their centre back allowing Joey in on goal and he clinically dispatched a right footed effort high into the net at the near post.

Our 9th saw Tobes complete the first WWFC hat-trick since the opening day of the season. We broke well down the right and after Odg cut back to Joey, he turned his man, but his low shot was well saved by the keeper only for Tob to pass the rebound into the empty net.

In the 86th minute we reached double figures. Odg just kept in Gilo's clumsy pass down the left, cut inside, beat his man to get to the byline where his cutback was cleardd only to Zam who's shot was going wide, but their defender got it hopelessly wrong and miskicked past the helpless keeper.

We equalled our biggest ever goals haul in the 89th minute. Odg's long throw was well flicked on by Oli and Gilo was afforded the time and space in the 6 yard box to control and volley home.

It's easy to look at the deficiencies of the opposition after a victory like this, but on this occasion I do think we were superb from back to front. It was an efficient, clinical and ruthless dismantling of a team that are capable of troubling the best teams in this League on their day. They may have lost their concentration as the second half wore on, but we continued to play some cracking football and our end product was fantastic.

As far as the quality of our football is concerned this is the bench mark for the remaining games this season. When we stick to our beliefs and play simple passing football we are capable of beating anyone.

We await the quarter final draw now, but it is JB Rangers at home next week. Let's carry this form forward.

MoM - Tob - notched a hat-trick, but his overall play up front was excellent. Used his strength to hold the ball up and bring others into play. Gave their centre backs a torrid morning. Noteable mentions for several players including Joey and Zam who both scored 2 and created 2 as all of the front 6 scored.

Huge thanks to Steve, Gio & Jay for running the line. To Ads for doing some filming (only downpoint was Ads knee injury - hope that is ok) and to those who came to support.
