Two out of Two

This was a difficult week for Matt as manager with near on a full squad of players unavailable for our second friendly against Woking Tigers. At one point it looked as if we weren't going to get a team out, but in the end we fielded a squad of 13 that included 5 'triallists' who had never played for us before. Thanks to all of them for stepping in and to the current squad members who helped out in bringing 3 of them in for this morning.

One of the above 5, Max, impressed right from the start and scored with one of his first touches of the game. The ball fell to him on the edge of the box and he nonchalantly passed the ball into the top corner left footed.

Skipper Oli Cochrane made it 2-0 with an audacious half volley from 35 yards that looped over the keeper. A superb goal.

HAfter we dominated the first half an hour, Tigers then took the upper hand and were the better side for the second 3rd of the game. In this time they turned the game around and took the lead deservedly as they outworked our makeshift team.

In the last 15 minutes Tigers seemed to tire and we seized control of the game again, playing some decent possession football. Triallist Alberto's excellent cross from the right found Sam at the back post and he fired a well struck volley past the keeper for a debut goal. He had earlier found the net directly from one of his ridiculous throw ins, but it evaded everyone in the area.

The last word fell to Oli who smashed home the winner after Tigers failed to clear following a good move of ours.

Considering who we were missing and the new faces on show this was a good win and work out for the team. Some of the prospective new boys really shone and we hope to see more of them this season.
