We were missing a few key players including Ell and Grouty, but named a full 16 for the first time this season.
It's still early days for this new look squad so performances and indeed results like this were always possible.
The most disappointing aspect was that we were unable to show the quality we have as we never really clicked at any stage with many of our outfield players suffering from off days.
Nonetheless with the game seemingly heading for a 0-0 draw that would have been fair enough on the general balance of play, we conceded a poor goal midway through the second half as a chance to attack Abbey's defence turned into a counter attack when Gilo gave the ball away and their midfielder somehow got through on goal and beat Harri to it to finish.
Their second was a fantastic free kick by comfortably their best player with 14 minutes left and that was game. Ruggs hit the bar late on, but Abbey held on for the win.
A scrappy game on the whole and one to forget. We should look at our other performances as something to build on at the Surrey Sports Park carpet next week.
MoM: Harri - some decent defensive displays on show given what was going on ahead of them and Harri gave a good performance in goal. Thanks for stepping in again and hopefully get you back outpitch next week.
Thanks to Jay and Rory for running the line an to Tom, Trigg and Luigi for supporting.
