The manager speaks exclusively to WWFC Online about his teams victory against Bisley AS.

WWFC today beat Bisley AS 2-0 thanks to goals from Luca Mortellaro and Silvio Sorce. After the game Manager Matt Gibbins gave us his thoughts on the result, performance and transfer gossip.

On the victory..

Well I think the most pleasing aspect of the win is the clean sheet. We worked harder defensively this week and reaped the rewards. Damian Lynch made a few excellent saves, but on the whole it was a much better defensive display.

On the outstanding performers...

Sam Pike had a great game. He certainly gives us something else. Superb bursts of speed, nice simple passing and stuck to our defensive game plan too. Luca Mortellaro, Simon Swadling and Damian were also impressive. It was nice to have Luke Belcher back in the squad today too.

On Luca's wonder goal...

It came after a good spell of passing by us. Craig Cook worked hard to get forward and his ball fell to Luca about 20 yards out. He loves a shot and hit the ball on the half volley and it dipped into the far corner. It was a brilliant goal one he deserved it for a terrific 75 mins.

On the importance of the clean sheet...

They should be proud today. All 7 who played in the back 4 and Damo can be very happy with the clean sheet. We weren't perfect, but it was a massive step forward. We are getting there. Clean sheets are a hard thing to come by at our level.

On things to improve on ahead of Addlestone Wanderers...

We need to keep to our passing game. We started both halves really well, but lost our way for certain parts of the game. It needs to be a more consistent quality. Also we need to continue to work on our formation off the ball so it becomes second nature. Obviously communication will continue to improve aswell. Overall I was happy with today.

On possible new signings/triallists joining the club...

We hope to finalise deals for up to 7 triallists over the next week or so. They've gelled in really well I think. Still a few areas to work on, but that goes without saying when you have a squad with nearly a third of them being new faces this pre-season.

On the fans impatience for new additions to the squad...

All I can say is the fans will be very happy with the players we will add. They are of a super quality and will enhance the squad. We ask the fans to be patient at this time as this is not like shopping in a supermarket. All the big teams out there are after centre backs and central midfielders and so on so we have to do our business quietly. There should be movement this week.
