Wombwell Town are delighted to announce they will be returning to their Recreation Ground home for the 2019/20 season.

Having played away from the Station Road ground towards the end of last season due to issues with the playing surface, discussions between the trustees and the club have seen the Saturday side agree to become the predominant footballing tenants.

President Dr. Andrew Scattergood is delighted with the outcome: “We had the chance to put everything forward for our short and long term vision as a club and for the ground.

“We now have a plan for the next 12 months, so we know where we are and what we are working towards.

“This puts us in a great position going forward.”

Chairman and Manager Karl Rose added: “I’m sure the fans and all associated with the club will be as delighted as I am to see us stay at a ground which provides us an opportunity to develop further.

“The facilities already at the Recreation Ground put us in good stead and we hope it can be a stepping stone to providing more quality non-league football to South Yorkshire.”

Wombwell Town will now start planning for their first season in Division One of the Sheffield County Senior League and have a number of friendlies already arranged, including a game on home soil against Premier Division Champions North Gawber Colliery on Thursday 8th August.

Trips to High Green Villa and United Worksop have already been announced on social media with details of further friendlies to be released soon.
