The second game of the season for Woodford rugby club U14s. This was Woodford's first away game of the season and it was not an easy one! Hertford had a large number of players who were extremely tall and strong.
The first half was a struggle for the woods because the opposition scored a quick couple of tries. We battled hard and then Josh went over for a well deserved team try. The first half ended and we were 2 tries to 1 down.
Then the second half started and Hertford again started strongly scoring yet again quick tries. The woods never quit even though by this time the tackling was getting harder, unfortunately because of this a few of our players had to come off injured including our captain Owen.
We couldn't let down our team and we knew that we had lost but we carried on until the end, managing to score another 3 tries, Josh who scored 2 and Domingo who scored 1. Ryan was taking all of our kicks and he converted a few, one which was near the side line!
The final score was 43 to Hertford and 24 to Woodford.
The team played really well and we kept on fighting until the final whistle. Hope everyone enjoyed the game and everyone is fit for the next one.

Another fantastic report, thanks James. Seems you omitted that unbelievable try stopping tackle on there 13 stone (at least) prop, great skills!!!
Lads showed what true team spirit was, not one gave a yard and made Hertford work for every point they scored. The way the lads dug in and never gave up was a sight to behold. Can't thank the 17 boys enough for the 100% effort they showed out there, no coach could ask for more or be more proud.
A battle weary pack won scrums against the head, and relentless backs never stopped pushing forward, great game lads, well done.
Need to work on our first man rucking and quicker delivery to our wings, but both minor criticisms.
A big thank you to all the lads that attended training on Sunday, both Ash and Scott said it was a great session with all the lads working hard.
Great weekend all round Woods, thanks for the support parents, hats off to Matt Unwin for making it to Hertford to support the team.
