A very disappointing day for the boys especially coming after the success of last week.
Several factors contributed to this defeat we feel, probably the biggest being that we brought such a large squad to the game of 26 players due to thinking we would have to supply four players to Epping, It turned out that Epping did not require any in the end when then meant that we had to find game time for 26 players, which in turn then meant no continuity on the pitch.
Alas it is just one of those things, nothing could be done about it and we just had to make do, it is a lesson we have learnt and one that won't be repeated.
In saying that the game was a very close affair and looking back at it now one that we could and maybe should have won.
We conceded three break away tries from their fast centre and wing in quick succession, but other than that we controlled most of the game I feel, the majority of the possession fell to Woodford and we certainly spent the majority of time in their half of the pitch.
The Woodford tries came from Domingo & Ethan Mackenzie-Yapa in the first half, and Josh Jerrard in the second, unfortunately none were converted in the high winds yesterday.
A hard fought game all round by all with some excellent performances from many players but Ben Sharratt deserves a special mention as he played the first half as scrum half, then played as centre for most of the second half as well as a few minutes at full back, and not only did he play those many roles but he played them superbly, which quite rightly gives him this weeks honour of Man of the Match.
