WIGAN BULLDOGS 28 WOOLSTON ROVERS 'A' 32

Woolston Rovers ‘A’ came out victorious in a high scoring encounter at Wigan Bulldogs in the NWML Division Three on Saturday afternoon to keep their excellent run going and put further pressure on the teams above them in the league table.

A much-changed Rovers side produced some excellent passages of play throughout the game that saw them score six wonderful tries that enabled them to edge the win over a very resilient Bulldogs side.

Rovers tries were scored by Jimmy Evans 2, Sam Vernon 2, Olly Hands and Ben Dixon with Dixon adding four goals.

The Man of the Match was awarded to Rovers scrum half Olly Hands. He was very well supported by loose forward Craig Lawton and stand off Elliott Best.

After the game Rovers ‘A’ coach Mal Mason said, “I am absolutely delighted with the win; it wasn’t pretty at times but the boys dug deep at got their just reward. It was a completely different team we had out to last week, with ten changes, but it goes to show the squad depth that we have at the club. Our half backs were excellent throughout and were the architects around our win. That is six victories on the bounce now and the confidence is flowing through the team.”
