6. WPCC Lions Policies


Lions mission statement

Our aim is to teach the skills and ethos of the game of cricket to the wider local community, using group coaching techniques, net practice and competitive games, with the emphasis on developing an enjoyment of the game and confidence as well as skills.
• We are an open and inclusive club.
• To maximise the participation of each child, to provide equal opportunities within training and matches- we will prioritise involvement above win at all costs.
• We welcome/ expect/promote parent and guardian participation and involvement.
• Coaching is staffed by experienced and fully qualified ECB coaches, with appropriate coaching ratio’s
• Player development - playing and practising against "like", whether it is in the nets or in match play.
• Identifying and developing potential talent to achieve representative level.
• Specialist Demonstration Sessions - in wicket-keeping, batting and bowling, with "masterclasses" for the most talented players.
• Planned development and integration of Lions into senior Cricket at the most appropriate time\ level
