Getting There!

Greetings ALL.
2018 fixtures are coming along well so far and on Thursday 30th November, we will be attending the Surrey Trust League AGM when our 9 team “Tier 1” division will be known.
Looking at thelist of entrants, it will be a tough section whoever we draw!
I have held back plenty of dates for these Sunday Academy matches to allow us to be in a position to be more choosy as to who we play home and away.
When this is done, I can then look to complete the Sunday Aacdemy friendlies and remaining Social XI fixtures.
On the Sunday Social side, I am very pleased with the progress here with just 8 gaps left to fill. That is a deliberate tactic based on the Surrey Trust League fixtures fitting into place and I am hopeful that we will be playing all the usual suspects. In any event, I have received numerous requests from suitable clubs should anyone fall by the wayside. Banstead, for example, have requested just one fixture in 2018 and I have taken up the “away” option here.
I have noted the positive response to the fixture at Tilford CC (pictured) and our finale at West Meon CC, which boasts the resting place of Thomas Lord nearby.
To date, I have added all of our arranged fixtures to our Pitchero and Play Cricket websites except for the Midweek XI games on Pitchero, for which I am awaiting “administrator rights”.
I plan to have all Sunday and Midweek matches completed before Christmas.
My next task will be the pre season Saturday matches for our 2nd and 3rd XI's and I have some feelers out there for some fresh and local opposition. I have added a 3rd XI game at Cheam on a Sunday as, at this stage, we are unaware of availability in pre-season. The 1st XI will visit Sheen Park, Cheam and Bank of England in their three warm up games.
Once we have attended the Mid-Surrey Colts League AGM, I will begin compiling the U11, U13 and U15 matches.
Monday to Wednesday of cricket week look set in stone but I am looking for something new for the Thursday.
Something that runs well, and is traditional, at other clubs is a SINGLE WICKET COMPETITION which would take up a full Sunday from 10am to 6pm depending on the number of entrants.
I will be discussing this at the committee meeting on Monday 4th December and other issues.
Finally, the IOW tour is set for Sunday 22nd july with matches at Shanklin, Newclose, Ryde, Porchfield, and Ventnor.
