The day started with a 7 -0 win against an understrength DK side with tries from Tommy Westby, Leo Jamous, Tobey Jones, Cam Richardson, Ben Williams, Alex Terry and George Cunliffe. It would have been 8 if Tobey Jones held the ball in two hands!
Wolverhampton was a game of two halves. Jack Hodgson and Leo Jamous scored in the firsts half. in the second half Worcester had very little ball but the defence against a very big Wolverhampton was nothing short of epic. Worcester won 2-0.
Breedon got off to a great start scoring the first two tries, Leo Jamous scored to pull one back then Breedon scored again to take a 3-1 lead. Jack Hodgson scored just before half time. The only try in the second half was scored by Tommy Westby, very strong run fending off several Breedon defenders to draw the game 3-3.
The semi-final saw Worcester pitted against Stourbridge, a repeat of the Banbury Tournament. Stourbridge started the scoring but Worcester came back through Leo Jamous and Jack Hodgson in a very close firsts half. Alex Terry and Cam Richardson scored in the second half to make Worcester 4-1 winners.
The final was set for Worcester against Droitwich, who had dispatched our nemesis Shils in the other semi final. This was a very close matched and intensive game, Jack Hodgson put Worcester in front during the first half. Isiah Martin scored in the second half to secure the final and North Mids championship, 2-0 to Worcester.
After Worcester had been presented with the cup the Droitwich players formed a tunnel to congratulate the Worcester team in a truly sporting gesture, reflecting the core values of Rugby Union.
Massive thanks to Jon Dear and the other coaches to keeping the boys focused and guiding them to a memorable victory. Thanks also to Bromsgrove for hosting a very well organised tournament and to the North Mids referees who did a great job of refereeing the Under 12’s games for the first time.
