Banbury, Easter Sunday and Zulu News

Dear All

First, a huge “thank you” to John Mason for running the training at home last weekend and at short notice, sterling stuff John and thank you.

Banbury

Banbury was simply fantastic. Generally it was a very well organised friendly event with strong teams entered and the sun shines there too.

Thank you to Carl and Paula for coaching our away team

The team for last Sunday's Banbury festival was.

1. Tomas Bladen

2. Todd Charlton

3. Joseph Doyle

4. Emily Gittoes

5. Evan Hawkins

6. Jacob Morgan-Iqbal

7. Edward Owen

8. Ryan Perry

9. Owen Preston

10. Bradley Roberts

11. William Tolley

12. Ben Amos

They all performed really, really well. The pitches were very long and the all the competitors (many whom we haven’t played before) fielded top A squads.

Not only was our motivation strong, tagging relentless, try scoring eventful, support strong, unforced errors near non-existent and mural high but we also did quite well in the ratings too. You can all be proud to hear that out of the 11 or 12 teams entered we managed 4th overall. This is simply a wonderful result and I know we can still do even better.

Our fine result may also be partly due to the spirited vocal touchline support and advice offered by everyone involved as witnessed in some of the photos beautify framed by our own Click-Click Owen family.(Many thanks, they look really good)

I unfortunately I had to pop off to Banbury A&E with Tomas my son who left his hand on the ground too long in an Under 9’s match. Great service with kind and very caring staff managed to see us, do the x-rays and then be seen by a doctor and released all in about two hours (not bad)

But it did mean that I missed the final exciting matches. If anyone has more details that I can publish, they would be most welcome.

Well done to all and as mentioned there are some photos are on our website.

End of season Party

There are plans afoot (initiated buy our very own Coach Craig) to have a joint U7, U8 and U9’s end of season party. The date being muted is Sat June 19th. No firm details as yet but please keep that date free in your diaries.

Easter Sunday

No training or matches. Enjoy a late Sunday breakfast in-bed before church

We are Duty Crew on our Return

11th April. Lists will be issued soon by Gayle (if that is ok with your Gayle?)

Up and Coming

Thank you to you all for making this season such a fun and well supported age group. I’m sure you may be tiring a little but we are on the final yet very important final push. We are in the really exciting tournament / festival season.

These events are really worth the effort of attending. The rugby bug should hopefully be starting to set in and we want to expose our players to the excitement, fun and the associated, adrenaline generating, slight pressure of these events. This is all part of this wonderful game and should cement the desire to play, play well, learn more and start back for a new season in September.

Those who made the tour, I’m sure you would agree, that these shared experiences are helping to form a strong bond. These festivals are important too in the building this bond. Please make your child feel important and privileged to have been selected for their particular festival as this all adds to the magic and effect.

Please see the selection list below. James and I have worked really hard to try and ensure everyone has a fair crack. If we have made any errors or omissions, please let me know.

Can you please reply to me indicating if you are able to make the events as defined below?

PS I should be playing touch rugby on the main pitch during the half time interval in the Warrior V London Irish match on the 10th April. So give me a shout if you see me. I’ll be the out of breath one, 10 minutes behind the pace and yet still enjoying the experience!.... I hope
