Probably the strongest of the three ‘local’ sides left in the competition, the Westmorland League leaders are unbeaten this season and will make the short journey along the A66 confident of causing an upset.
They have had strong links with Workington over the years, Martin Kirkby, Lee Collins and Kevin Frampton three of those representing both clubs at various stages of their careers. Now managed by Paul Frampton, who scored on his Reds’ debut as a teenager, Keswick will include Stephen Hindmarch in their line-up as well as the Westmorland League’s top scorer, Richard Bannister.
Keswick have knocked out Northbank (5-1) and Netherhall (3-2) earlier in the competition so will not be taken lightly in what promises to be an intriguing tie. It will be the seventeenth meeting between the clubs in the Cumberland Cup, including an encounter in the final 126 years ago!
Reds will rely on a similar squad to previous rounds, although some of those confined to the bench recently might be given a start.
Admission: £6 (Adult), £4 (Concession), £1 (Child)
The other semi final, Aspatria v. Workington Athletic, will be staged on Saturday.
