Image (above): Marcus Webster played a crucial role with the bat, scoring his first fifty for Wyre CC. However the website editor still saw it fit to harvest his Facebook page for a picture of him looking "less than his best"

A change of ground mid-week and we were playing at Blackpool’s main ground!! As we arrived the ground looked glorious, after having a look both Tim and Steve decided we should bat. We won the toss and opted to bat, with the Blackpool skipper very happy with our decision (did he know something?). It then dawned on the captain that Roy may not know re the ground change as he is not attached to the world wide web, frantic phone calls were made! Once he rang back at 1:56 we told him we were at Stanley Park, he told us he was at Cottom Hall.?!
We went out to bat with Lefty at square leg. Wyre opened with Tim and Steve, and with some patient batting Wyre got to the 20th over in a different situation than usual, 57 for no wicket. The two openers had faced the first four bowlers and were batting happily. This was record breaking day as Steve made Tim run two threes in one over. Steve was the first to be dismissed run out for a patient 33, Tim followed not long after also run out for 31. This meant two new batsmen were at the crease, however big John Hargreaves failed to trouble the scorers, this put us 88 for 3 with Marcus and Kenny out there.
The ball struck Marcus on the ankle whilst going for a quick single “ahh you B***ard” were his words. With us lot laughing at the side we soon realised that he would need a runner and without even asking Lefty was on this way out. In the 30th over the hundred was up with Kenny and Marcus now in, they both started hitting out and in no time at all they were both in the 40s at the start of our last over they were both on 48 with Kenny on strike, he played his trade mark late cut through the slips for three to bring up a very nice 51. This left Marcus on strike and on the 4th ball of the over he brought up his 50 with a massive 6 out of the ground. We finished the innings on 196 for 3. This looked a good score we were capable of defending.
Scott and Tom Opened the bowling and the first wicket fell with a run out by Neil Willets and they were 18 for 3 of 5 overs and Wyre looked in a very strong position. A change of bowling brought Lefty on for Scott and Joe on for Tom. Wyre were in a dominant position with Blackpool 70 for 7 off 13 with Blackpool’s tail putting runs on the board the captain decided it was time for him to bowl. Steve ended the partnership of 58. Marcus came on to bowl ant took the final wicket to bowl Blackpool out for 134.
