Mike Roberts (Little Lions) Shortlisted for National Award

Local Community Rugby Organisation Delighted To Be Shortlisted For National Award!

LittleLions-Rugby based in North Leeds, has been nominated for one of this year’s Guinness National Rugby Awards. These awards are the biggest celebration of grassroots rugby in the country and, according to Chris Robshaw (former England Captain), “…this year (2019) has seen a record number of nominations and the quality has been outstanding…”. To be selected as a finalist has delighted Principal Coach, Mike Roberts.

“Being recognised for the role we play in inspiring potential rugby players of the future makes me feel very proud…” said Mike “…it is an absolute pleasure to work with children who are keen to learn the basics of a game I am passionate about, and who knows which of today’s 3 year olds may be the next Owen Farrell or Emily Scarratt!”.

Developing strong relationships with several local clubs has been a crucial part of developing the LittleLions-Rugby business. Moortown, Yarnbury and Leodiensians RUFCs are known across Leeds and beyond for developing great junior and adult teams and LittleLions-Rugby has a presence in each club training 2.5 to 7- year olds in rugby-related skills. Even the tiniest LittleLions pack a mighty roar and enjoy throwing, catching and kicking practice, many have gone on to join minis and junior teams in the region.

LittleLions-Rugby also offers after school clubs and toddler groups locally and our aim is to bring a love of rugby to local children no matter what their sporting ability is like.
