Every year, Household Cavalry veterans take part in a charity car rally to raise funds for military charities while remembering and honouring those who have served.
For a second-year running, we are proud to be supporting Scotty’s Little Soldiers, as our support last year was recognised as such a significant help to their work.
An extract from the 'Thank you' letter received after last year's rally.......
“Wow!!!!
A huge thank you from Scotty’s Little Soldiers for your immense fundraising for Scotty’s!!! The total is in!!! You raised a staggering……………..£18,023.78!!!! (including Gift Aid). This is an eyewatering amount, and you have blown us away! What a fantastic achievement!! Thank you so much from all of us, to all of you, and for those that supported you by donating! This amount of money makes such a difference to the children and young people we support, and we are so very grateful! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!”
While there are many wonderful charities doing vital work — and we all know how often we’re asked to donate — Scotty’s Little Soldiers is one that is both incredibly deserving and, sadly, still not widely known.

Scotty’s Little Soldiers is a UK-based charity dedicated to supporting children and young people who have lost a parent who served in the British Armed Forces. Each year, it’s estimated that around 2,100 children and young people are newly bereaved of a serving parent. Behind every one of those figures is a family facing unimaginable loss — and Scotty’s exists to ensure those children are never left to cope alone.
Through practical support, emotional care, and opportunities to build confidence and resilience, Scotty’s helps bereaved military children rebuild their lives and look towards the future.
Team Eagles (members include myself, Adrian Phillips, Jock Robertson and Mario Latino) is part of the HCav Banger Car Rally, a group that has been running for over 10 years and has raised more than £100,000 for military charities.
Each team is tasked with buying a vehicle for a maximum of £1,000 (although that’s sometimes a little flexible!) before setting off on a rally that takes us to various military memorials. This year, we’ll be travelling across France and Belgium, visiting sites of remembrance to pay our respects to the brave soldiers who gave their lives so that we can live ours.

Around 20 car teams, made up of army veterans, will take part in this year’s rally. All rally costs — including vehicles, travel and accommodation — are covered personally by those taking part, meaning 100% of every donation goes directly to Scotty’s Little Soldiers.
I appreciate that you may already have been approached for many worthy causes, but if you’re able to support this one, donations of any size will be genuinely appreciated. We'd be very grateful if you could share this link with your Facebook contacts too. Every contribution helps make a real difference to the lives of bereaved military children and their families.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this — and for any support you’re able to give.
