YARNBURY JUNIORS RFC 2020-21

May I welcome players, parents and friends of Yarnbury to another new season at the club - I do hope that everyone has managed to keep safe and well over the last 6 months.

Last season came to an abrupt halt with the RFU calling time on all rugby activity as the the country moved into lockdown, and over the past few months has been slowly allowing rugby to return in a phased manner. This new-normal means that the season will start somewhat different to others - but we will all do our best to ensure our Minis and Juniors have the chance to enjoy rugby union in whatever guise it is allowed.

The Junior Section covers teams from U7’s through to Colts and we are lucky to have teams at all age groups. Last year we saw the investment made in the far-back pitch come in to it's own, and we now have 3 truly superb full-size pitches to play on.

Last season was the first running a Girls team, led by Michelle Harling, and it was great to see numbers growing steadily over the months. If any girls would like to give rugby a go, please contact Michelle directly.

The kitchen will be open on a Sunday and I would ask you all to support as any monies are re-invested into your club to make it a better place for children to develop their life skills through rugby.

Our Club motto is “Let Everyone Contribute” – and as Club Officials, Coaches & Managers we always welcome more help so please offer your services in whatever capacity. We also don’t necessarily have all the best ideas so feel free to feedback to myself any thoughts on improving things. Any willing sponsors for team shirts or kit also greatly appreciated. Thanks to all those individuals and businesses who contributed generously last season.

With regards to rugby, we are always looking to develop and up skill our coaches and most have been on RFU Nationally Approved coaching and refereeing courses. Our ethos is to play to win but not win at all costs. We aspire to give every player the opportunity to enjoy rugby under the RFU framework of TEAMWORK, RESPECT, ENJOYMENT, DISCIPLINE and SAFETY

I’d like to thank all the coaches, managers and volunteers who make things happen at the club – from the kitchen team to the car park attendants and those who make things happen on the pitch and in the background.

Best wishes,
John Dodgson (Junior Chairman)
