Yarnbury did the same to the visitors scoring early through the forward domination after six minutes with their classic line out, maul and pack drive for the line prop Adam Pike coming up with the ball after for the try. Stand off Stuart Wilson missing the conversion but captain Oliver Cashman asking the fly half to come up with the points soon after when a penalty under the posts was awarded by referee Hanson Haigh from Halifax. The pack had got on top quickly with Yarnbury's pairing in the second row Ian Maycock and Henry Griffiths dominating the lines and the back row Jimmy Cryan creating serious pressure on the Moortown pack.
All credit to Moortown, who, living off scraps, took their only first half opportunity when Yarnbury winger Chris Flowers uncharacteristically knock on deep in his own half and from the scrum winger Stephen Plummer gathered a ricochet to score and Dean Marrison converted to shake a casual period out of the home side. From a typical barging run through prop Adam Pike and Henry Griffiths, scrum half and captain Oliver Cashman went over but Wilson hit the post to miss the conversion. However, the stand off made amends before half time to go over for his try in a confident sweeping Yarnbury move by the backs with forwards combining well, and when full back Rob Rigby slipped in on the blind side from the five yard scrum Yarnbury were clear and a bonus point for four tries in the bag. Rigby again broke from full back and centre Jason Avison getting the touch down and converted by Wilson.
Yarnbury were unstoppable at this stage and a team try followed with prop Richard Lister getting the final pass to touch down under the posts again Wilson converting with Bruce Johnson Laird getting the final try and Wilson making it 46 points. Coach Bob Hood then had the chance to blood several youngsters Alex Thorpe and Tom Fox with Russ Gomersall taking a spell on the wing for Chris Flowers to see out the game and leave Yarnbury with maximum points from the first two games.
