Yarnbury U8's run rampage across Ilkley fields.

Ilkley back office team drop the ball as fixture had been cancelled at Ilkley end. Swift work from coaches and parents on both sides allowed the U8's to enjoy a full morning of rugby.

The teams were hurriedly arranged with pitches marked out for immediate kick off as soon as all boys had arrived on the Ilkley baize.

Some brilliant skills displayed with the occasional blips of ill discipline led to what is estimated to be a brilliant Yarnbury victory. A victory of character over adversity.

The perfect flat surface and green velvet surface opened up the rugby to long looping passes and some fast paced individual efforts from a select few of the Ilkley squad.
The tries coming from the Yarbury boys however were more evenly dispersed amongst the representatives. In fact it's getting more difficult to identify future positions for each of the lad as the big lads stretch their legs and sprint round for their moments of glory and the pace merchants can often be seen taking a bead on the straight route and showing fearless tenacity in attacking the opposition lines.

One moment in particular struck me as remarkable when a most elegant leap from Oliver Herring scoring in the corner on his debut was heralded as the try of the day. Obviously diving is frowned upon at this age group, but a small tear of pride was witnessed in the eye of the proud father Pete as he juggled the rest of his brood (hope you had a nice lie in Jen).

A perfect morning thoroughly enjoyed by all present - thanks for everyone's efforts - see you next week.
