Yarnbury U7's, large in number and attitude, and not a little success to date welcomed the teams of Moortown and Bramley this week. With twenty players to choose from, to play the nine of Moortown and seven of Bramley, selection was to prove as difficult as a Greek parliamentary finance decision. Added to this was a confession by Moortown that they were fielding a relatively inexperienced side. do Yarnbury capitulate and play a mixed side to blood a number of newbies?
The decision was this, be ruthless. After a lengthy discussion which took up an entire minute the coaches decided to field a full strength A team to play Moortown. A close game ensued where the visitors kept the Yarnbury tries in single figures! but, as is the norm so far this season, Yarnbury were the victors. Again.
At this point the coaches decided to capitulate, bouyed by an overwhelming sense of confidence, to field a B team team (not in the slightest a slight on the boys but moreover a sense that they were ready for battle) to face Bramley. A tighter game you might think? In actual fact a 5 - 0 victory for the Yarnbury boys. Excellent all round play by the worthy Man of the Match Josh Falkingham. Special mention for Harvey Coates who seemed to score with every touch of the ball too. Also, Jude Hollick put in the effort to make a couple of surging runs to the opponents try line with a successful grounding to enhance the scoreline.
A great effort by all players on the day ensured a 100% win rate for the Yarnbury teams on the day. Ruthless being the buzzword, across all sectors of the game, tackling (they appear a little premature with their aggression; full contact some two years away!), running from deep with pace and flair, tagging with no respect for personal space and keeping upright!
Who's next you ask? Roundhegians. An unknown entity but, as they say, Confidence is high, I repeat confidence is high......
