With 2 weekends off from league action, Yatton 2XV looked fresh and ready to run. Welcomed with the young blood of Harry Parsons, Billy Mackay, Joe Sheppard, Harry Hobbs, Adam Chadwick & Finbar Lawrence from last years colts, Yatton started brightly. Despite losing he ball straight from the kickoff they held out the Telephones attack and came back with one of there own. Yatton centre and captain Nick Adams made some big runs upfield often needed multiple big telephones to bring him down.
Yatton opted twice for the corner from wide penalties instead of the posts. Hard running got them to within inches of the line. Sam Jarvis point with the lineout and the force of the pack got them ever so close. In the end dropped balls cost them dearly as the phones were first to react to quick ball and serge upfield and Yatton attack had to build again. Despite a Yellow card for the home side, there defence held firm and it looked as if Yatton were not Gomito get over. Slightly against the run of play 2 Telephones tries though some slick offloads saw them 12-0 up at the break.
With water on board and halftime messages in there ear, Yatton let 2 tackles slip and Telephones scored straight from the KO. Despite this Yatton head never dropped. Full back Adam Chadwick solid as always made many half breaks but the ball time after time escaped the hands on his teammates. For their opposition it what magical every offload just sticking and resulted in them running in another couple of tries.
Yatton now camped in their oppositions 22 wanted points on the board for their afternoons efforts, and hats what they got with 75 minutes on the clock. Speedy ball from a scrum in he middle of the park found its way out wide to Chris Dart who dropped the ball onto his foot. Bouncing up perfectly for him to cross in the corner for a wonderful individual try.
The afternoon a good one for all those involved with the sun out food was eaten outside and Telephones were great hosts & we can't wait to welcome them back to us.
