Yaxley make the journey to step 6 side Framlingham Town in the FA Vase.
Team news
Yaxley go into Saturday on the back of an impressive 1-0 win over Moulton, providing the team with a huge confidence boost for the upcoming games. The management team were impressed over the last few games in how far the squad has come, and it only gets better from here. Yaxley hope for a cup run and this is the chance as they disappointingly got knocked out in the FA Cup to Hucknall in a 3-2 defeat.
The opposition
Framlingham Town have started the season as they mean to go on. They currently sit top of of the table in the Thurlow Nunn north division having played 6 and winning 5 and drawing the other. In those 6 games, they have already kept 5 clean sheets only conceding one goal, so it will be a close game for Yaxley who will have to be patient to break down their opponents defence.
Manager's comments
"This weekend brings a different kind of challenge as we travel to Framlingham Town for the First Round of the FA Vase. The Vase is always a special competition — it gives clubs like ours the chance to test ourselves against teams from different leagues, and it carries the added excitement of a proper cup run.
Framlingham come into the game in great form. They’re sitting top of the Thurlow Nunn League at Step 6 and remain unbeaten, so we know we’ll be up against a confident side playing with momentum. Their record speaks for itself, and it’s important that we respect the threat they pose.
For us, though, there’s plenty to be positive about. After a tough start, the lads have shown real progress and resilience. We’ve put together a good little run, with draws against both Easington and Histon — games where we showed character and work rate — followed by a hard-fought 1–0 win over Moulton last weekend. That result, built on discipline and togetherness, was a big step forward for this young squad.
The message going into tomorrow is clear: cup football is about small margins and big moments. We’ll need to start with intensity, stay organised, and make sure we take our chances when they come. The performances against Easington, Histon, and Moulton showed what we’re capable of — now it’s about producing that level consistently from the first whistle.
The Vase also gives the lads a stage to show their quality. For many of them, this is another first taste of national competition, and these are the games you remember as a player. If we can match Framlingham’s energy, stay brave in possession, and work for each other, then there’s no reason why we can’t cause them problems and give ourselves a real chance of progressing.” - Wilks
