A difficult run of fixtures for the Yaks started with the team made up of the tournaments best players, Peterborough Barbarians.
This was such a high profile match it was played on pitch 1 so all of the players not involved in a game or families on their way to and from the bar could enjoy it.
With head coach Andrew Burgess cycling from London to Paris in aid of charity, James Warrener had the most difficult of matches to get started with.
The Barbarians were slick and despite being thrown together for the competition played well to be 4 tries to the good by the switch round.
Yaxley were boosted by the arrival of Ricky Wilby from rugby league and his influence around the middle of the park was clear as Yaks rallied in the second half.
The defeat though left them in a dangerous league position with the competition splitting at the end of tonight's matches.
The top two in each division would form a new league battling for the league title, whereas the bottom two in each league formed a secondary league.
Yaks were only one defeat away from being in the second tier.
