DCL Cancellation

3rd XI Cancellation v Ipplepen

Unfortunately we had to cancel the 3rd XI fixture this weekend away to Ipplepen due to insufficient numbers. There are a number of contributory factors with GCSE exams, a few injuries, a couple of departures this season and an important end of season home Argyle Fixture.

As well as the obvious detrimental effect of the loos of league points this has a financial impact on the club along with the potential issue of expulsion from the league if repeated a further two times.

YBCC entered the team into the DCL lower leagues to feed the 1st & 2nd XI to provide sustainability for the club, afford opportunities to 'blood' youngsters in open age cricket and provide senior cricketers with cricket at a lower league level. It is one of the key aspects in the club structure.
It has re-emphasised the importance of firm commitments by members to play at the weekend if they make themselves available.

Please can members at all levels ensure captains are aware of their availability or not, in addition we are always looking for club members at all levels to play at YBCC. Recruitment officer is a role all members are badged with whether it is a work colleague, schoolmate, neighbour or disgruntled player from another club looking for a game. The committee and other volunteers are extremely busy with ground, club administration and fundraising, recruitment is also addressed but primarily everyone has a responsibility for this.

We are a club with much ambition and a superb record of youth cricket, the 3rd XI is an important part of the development plan and it would be a disappointing occurrence if this weekend's demise is repeated.
