Yendys u13 v Bournville

Todays match saw the girls playing against an established Bournville Team.

After only a couple of seconds the opposition GD managed to take Phoebe off her feet. Phoebe got straight back up to battle on however it was clear she would need some recovery time. Phoebe was quickly replaced by Evie stepping up to take the position of GA. The girls played well with some lovely play by Jenevieve, Izzy and Tara, a hard fought quarter ended 7-5 with goals from both Kiertan and Evie.

The 2nd quarter saw the return of Phoebe onto the court rested and recovered. Some great jumping and interceptions were on display from Jenevieve with Tia chasing everything down and making life extremely difficult for the opposition attackers. The quarter remained extremely tight with Izzy nearly taking out the scoring desk and Charlotte having a fall when going for the ball. Charlotte was quick to her feet to play on and the girls showed awesome resilience forcing a held ball which led to Yendys regaining possession. Half time and the girls were level pegging with Bournville 12-12.

The 3rd quarter and the attackers were on fire with Kiertan scoring 8 and Phoebe hitting 100% of her shots. The girls took advantage with a quick piece of play following a free pass after the opposition Centre found herself offside. The ball was quickly placed in the circle for Phoebe to score putting Yendys in control and the 3rd quarter ended 23-19.

The final quarter ended up tense with Bournville coming back level before going a goal in front. Yendys had to dig deep and show an awesome strength of character as they looked to push for the victory. Some great defending was necessary by Tia and Charlotte as the opposition made long shots into the circle. The girls continued to work hard and took the lead before playing it safe in the closing moments of the match to end the game 27-26.
