So the long awaited match finally arrived. U12's Dynamos vs Youth teams in a clash at Bowlers Park. Whilst there was much anticipation, there was also a lot of nerves around before kick off. Both teams wanting to put in a performance.
In the first minute Callum had a chance but Yusef saved well low down to stop an early goal. Dynamos started strong and were told to keep the pressure up.
4 minutes in and Charlie swung in a decent corner and Kai was on hand to volley a fantastic opening goal. Dynamos were 1-0 up. Kai was in the thick of it again moments later when Callum charged down the middle and released Kai, his shot whistled past the post.
8 minutes in and Owen's quick feet allowed himself a run at goal, this time Callum G (Youth team) managed to get in a last ditch tackle and clear for a throw. Next the Youth team came forward with Regan, but Ellis was there to tackle him and play the ball forward to Owen but his shot went wide of the mark.
Charlie and and George then exchanged passes and Charlie had a long range shot just past the post. Dynamos were pushing hard but still looking nervous.
Charlie then turned provider with a great ball to Callum who ran through and had his shot saved by Yusef. Dynamos were on top and pushing forward.
Harry and Callum combined moments later but the ball sailed over the cross bar. Dynamos needed to get a second goal to calm the nerves and it came after a Youth attack. Alfie and Adam worked the ball into space and Alfie was in on goal...Edward came out and cleared his lines and picked out Luca. Luca turned his man and passed to Charlie in the middle, he skipped past a challenge and found Owen running through. There is only one outcome with Owen in front of goal....he rounded Yusef and smashed it home. 2-0 Dynamos.
Dynamos were getting forward all the time and both Charlie and Callum had chances to put Dynamos further ahead but one save and an offside stopped that.
Owen was then through on goal after Kai picked him out and his shot beat Yusef and crashed against the crossbar and out. Unlucky.
21 minutes and Owen was at it again, this time a little trick and he was down the left flank. His cross was unfortunately missed but cannoned back of the unfortunate Adam and into his own goal. 3-0 Dynamos.
Youth team then had an attack themselves when Regan hit a sublime pass over the defence and into Alfie but his shot was saved by Jay. Dynamos went straight down the other end and Harry was through on goal but Jack M was there to win the ball back. Oli then battled well in the middle and won the ball and finding Charlie, he in turn found Owen again but this time he pulled his shot wide.
Youth were still after a breakthrough for them and Regan and Jack C combined and the latter had a shot saved by Jay. The Youth team were not out of it and were still creating chances.
Harry and Dorian both carved out chances for Kai in the next couple of minutes but one was well saved by Yusef and the other went over the bar. Half time was approaching and Dynamos had one last chance. Conor won the ball and cleared to Dorian, his quick feet and great pass sent Callum through but his shot went wide of the target. Half time 3-0 Dynamos
The Youth team started the second half on fire and were pushing forward. Alfie controlled the ball well and found Jack C and his shot went inches wide of Edwards post. A warning that this match was not over. Jack C then became the provider as he made some room and a lovely cross was met by Adam, but his shot went over the bar from close range. Another missed opportunity for the Youth team.
It was on 33 minutes that Dynamos hit the killer blow. Charlie hit a corner across, the ball fell to Kai who couldn't find space for a shot, so he passed to Aidan who swivelled brilliantly and hit a low shot past Yusef. 4-0 Dynamos and the game looked settled for Dynamos.
Kai was running the right flank superbly all match but was well stopped again by Jack M who got a vital foot in when it was needed. Within a minute Owen was back shooting, this time Yusef saved and an audacious flick from Charlie nearly went in the far post. Unlucky.
The combination of Kai and Owen was proving too much and the score was 5-0 on 36 minutes when Kai squared to Owen who calmly beat Yusef to score his second goal.
With 40 minutes on the clock, Owen turned provider this time. Aidan won a great tackle and found Owen free on the left, he beat his player and passed to Kai who did the rest, rounded Yusef and slotted the ball home into an empty net. Great team goal and 6-0 Dynamos.
Kai had a couple more opportunities to get his hat-trick but Yusef stood tall and saved well.
48 minutes and the Youth team had their final flurry of possession. Vincent sent Alfie through, but Jay was quick off his line and cleared well. Less than 30 seconds later a lapse in the defence saw Jack C with a clear sight of goal, but his shot missed the far post by inches. Very unlucky not to score.
More pressure from the Youth team and next up Regan had a fantastic chance but Jay was equal to it and saved well, only for it to fall at Kyle's feet. His quick feet saw him shoot low but Jay was there again to keep a clean sheet and push the ball away for a corner.
Kai then went up the other end on a long run taking 3 players on but his shot went over.
6 soon became 7 when Conor won the ball at the back and calmly played the ball to Owen who came short to receive it. Owen hit a lovely ball into the path of Ellis was was striding forward and beat Yusef from a tight angle. 7-0 Dynamos and another superb team goal.
Kai and Owen had more chances saved or wide but the final nail in the coffin was arguably the best goal of the day.
Oli and Callum combined to win a corner and Owen decided to take it. He floated in a great ball and Aidan rose the highest to plant a firm header into the corner...great goal and 8-0 Dynamos.
In the last minute it looked like it would be 9 but a last ditch header from Kristan denied Aidan a chance for his hat-trick. Final score. 8-0.
Dynamos were good for the win and fully deserved it, however, if the Youth team had taken a couple of early chances, it could have been a different match. As Dynamos scored, their confidence grew and the Youth team struggled to get a foot hold in the game.
Very much a great team performance and I could mention every player in this summary...but...I thought Charlie had a great influence in the middle, George didn't put a foot wrong in defence and both keepers pulled out some good saves and kept clean sheets.
However we look awesome going forward and 2 goals for Kai, Owen and Aidan killed the Youth team off...with special mention to Aidan's superb header to complete the scoring.
Next up Westwood Park....!!!! This will be our toughest match of the season....!!!
