After a convincing win over local rivals Aretians, BAC welcomed Broad Plain on this windy Saturday. Taking in some encouraging words from the coach Tony “hall” Thetoucan during Tuesday’s training session, the team felt the need to make him proud. Unluckily for him, The Toucan decided not to show up and missed BAC’s performance of the year
BAC had taken the habit of conceding a try shortly after kick off, it was a great surprise to see BAC taking the lead 5 minutes into the game from a penalty kicked by our 10 Sam Sheppard…scrap that, Cabot Carpet can’t kick, Aaron was our 10 which is why BAC managed to score points from kicks. Our better looking 10 slotted a second penalty shortly after. BAC dominated the set pieces throughout the game and who else but BAC’s captain of the day Nath “100% winning record as a captain” Moore to score from a scrum. At that point of the game Mark “always happy” Furze had had enough of calling for the ball on his wing and was losing his legendary calm and composure, our dear potato friend wouldn’t listen to his backline partner and cut inside. However, after a few phases off 9, the backs took over and Happy Furze finally got his hands on the ball and finished his run behind the try line, calm and inner peace restored. BAC kept moving forward and applied pressure through the forwards which lead Alex “Trapausaus Rex” Wellington to score his 1st try of the season for BAC. The remaining 5 minutes of the first half saw Broad Plain gaining momentum and forcing BAC to defend on their try line. A good turnover from Rob “I support my own weight without putting my hands on the floor” Wilton put an end to the half and saw BAC leading 23-0 at half time.
The second half started well for BAC James “can’t think of a nickname” Dinning scored BAC’s 4th try. Don’t ask me how, I couldn’t remember he even scored. 4th try shortly followed by a 5th scored by our resident Saffa Franz “dodgy finger” Smit, again no idea how he scored, I believe he cut an inside line after a quick penalty. Tactical subs were made shortly after to see the dick of the day making his entrance. Shortly after coming on, the ball was passed to him and all he could hear coming from the wing was Gareth “Bald Eagle” Chard asking for a kick chase (call definitely not aimed at him) Forgetting he was a prop he decided to execute and kicked the ball behind the defence and hoping for Gary’s aerodynamic rig to do the rest. Kick eventually landed into Broad Plain’s hands and dreams were shattered. Game carried on and after an excellent run from Ross “4ft9” Gardner, BAC were left with an 8 man overlap on the left of the pitch, easy decision to make for the Irishman who was first on the ball, picked up the ball and passed it, I’ll let you guess…..right straight back in the traffic. Probably premeditated as still bitter from that terrible loss against England just a few weeks back. BAC kept pushing and after a few phases Rob “Jobert” Wilton fixed 2 defenders and offered a perfect offload to the Frenchman to score the 6th try of the game. Minutes after BAC scored their final try going through the phases, 2 forward phases followed by some quick hands lead to Elliot “I am always injured” Harrington to score the final try of the day.
Convincing win for the club and 100% winning record maintained for Nathan Moore as Captain, he didn’t need that stat to swell his ego as his head is already big enough.

The team then celebrated their win with and epic lock in.
