Murrayfield Match of the Day sees Broughton pair tie the knot

By Mark Brown

Broughton Rugby would like to extend their congratulations to Louise Forsyth and Morven Murray who celebrated becoming Mrs & Mrs on May 4th.

Murrayfield Stadium. The home of Scottish Rugby. Where meetings of gargantuan proportions have been had, blood sweat and tears shed, beers consumed with consummate ease by many.

Perhaps with the blood and sweat aside, two colossal giants of Broughton Rugby Club were set to embark upon their biggest fixture yet in front of an elegantly presented audience in the main stand.

The Piper played on as guests from near and far descended upon the national stadium ahead of the 6pm kick-off which would see Louise Forsyth and Morven Murray tie the knot in one of the most perfect matches at Murrayfield since Scotland won the Calcutta Cup in 2018.

Under the strains of the ethereal Highland Cathedral followed by The Skye Boat Song, the Brides followed each other up to the Royal Box ahead of exchanging their vows which delivered a rousing cheer that echoed long and loudly around the ground.

After the contents of the Quaich were consumed, the newlyweds then made their way out of the players tunnel with family and friends lining round it akin to schoolkids awaiting their heroes appearing on match day.

Guests later enjoyed speeches from the respective camps whilst Allie offered an alternative speech by way of Rap which wooed the assembled audience.

It would be remiss of the Broughton Women to not act upon the significant date of the wedding and midway through the band's repertoire, their pre-planned Star Wars lightsabre moment brought a moment of mayhem and hilarity to proceedings.

From everyone at Broughton, we'd like to wish 'Sickie' and Morv all the very best in the latest part of their wonderful journey together.
