Burscough had a shortened Easter programme, their trip to East Manchester on Easter Saturday yielding Terry Green’s side a relatively comfortable three points against the already relegated Abbey Hey with a 3-0 victory.
As the teams took to the field on a sunny afternoon it was clear that Burscough manager Terry Green had rested a couple of players, as he included Donald Eumessi, Danny Green and Cameron White in the Linnets starting line-up.
The Linnets opening goal arrived on 34 minutes when Jordan Lorde broke clear from the middle of the park, on entering the penalty area he clinically put the ball pasty home goalkeeper Ross Heywood to give his side the lead.
The second Burscough goal came ten minutes into the second-half Terry Cummings put the ball in from the wing and keeper Heywood appeared to have the danger covered, but the ball was left nestling in the net behind him.
The outcome of the game was settled just after the hour mark with a third Linnets goal. Lorde found himself on the ball but encircled near the corner flag, he cleverly managed to slip it back to Dimitri Nkusu-Wasaulua who put an excellent cross into the Abbey Hey penalty area, where Luke Gibson put an unstoppable header into the home net to make it 3-0.
The game had an end of season feel to it and with the game won Burscough to an extent eased off happy with their success.
Burscough play again on Wednesday 24th when they have a game with a bit more spice to it away to Litherland REMYCA, where their hosts need to win to wipe away the sceptre of relegation that is hanging over them, the kick off is 7-45pm, Burscough are expected to field a stronger team, it is expected to be a good game.
