Llanidloes 22 v 32 Cobra

Cobra traveled to Llani with a strong squad knowing we would be in for a tough match having beaten Llani in the last minute of the mid wales cup final at the start of the season.

It was a fiery local derby with a number of small incidents keeping the referee busy.
Adam Pryce missed a penalty for Llanidloes in the first 10 minutes and that proved costly as cobra fly half will worthington knocked over a penalty to give cobra a 3-0 lead.
The first try of the afternoon was scored by cobra centre Aled Humphreys. A break down the left wing by fly half worthington put scrum half Bryn Davies within metres of the try line. He stumbled but managed to offload to Humphreys who dived over the whitewash. Conversion added by worthington to make it 10-0. This was followed by another worthington penalty to make it 13-0.
Following some powerful carries by the cobra forwards in the Llanidloes 22 scrum half Bryn davies sniped towards the line and just managed to cross for a try. The conversion was again added by wil worthington to give Cobra a 18-0 lead. Whilst conceding a try Llanidloes to make it 5-18 Llani were also reduced to 14 men with their scrum half Ben Davies being sent off for foul language towards the referee.
The 14 men of Llanidloes did manage to score just before half time with a cross field kick making its way to winger Richard Pryce who crossed for the score 18-5 at half time.
Cobra managed to score the first points of the second half - a good run from fullback Richard jones got cobra within metres of the Llanidloes line. After a few phases the ball was passed to captain Hywel Jones who crashed over from close range.
This made it 25-5 with half an hour remaining.
After cobra lost captain Jones and centre Iwan Vaughan to injury and both hooker Steven Isaac and second row Lloyd bright to yellow cards Llanidloes managed to score 2 quick tries to take make the score 25-17.
Cobra did however manage to score the bonus point try when centre Aled Humphreys release flanker Daniel Jones. He showed a great turn of speed to gallop home from 60 metres. The conversion was again added by worthington to make it 32-17.
After a further two yellow cards - to Llanidloes winger Richard Pryce and cobra flanker chris Morris, Llanidloes had the last say and secured a try bonus point.
Cobra returned to Meifod with 5 points in the bag.
