SWANS CRUISE INTO CUP FINAL

Caversham arrived at Thatcham Town knowing that a win would secure their second Cup Final in 3 years. On a windy and difficult pitch, Caversham controlled the game, for large parts of the first half and most of the second. Conditions and the smaller than usual pitch made it difficult to carve out clear openings, but Caversham battled hard and took a deserved lead with 20 minutes to go, when Lianna broke down the left and arrowhead a shot into the bottom corner. There was a moments hesitation as the net was not secured and the ball had passed straight through, but fortunately the ref awarded the goal. It was an excellent team performance with standout contributions from Izzy at the back, Abby down the right and Lucy up front. Everyone played their part and the girls should be very glad of another clean sheet and player of the match was Lianna for an excellent display and goal. Bring on the final!
