The Committee
As a reminder of those new to CIHA, it is a not for profit organisation run by a committee which is elected annually at the AGM. The purpose of the Committee is to manage the academy overall, including managing the budget, providing guidance and support, appointing coaches and arranging fixtures.

Rink Refurbishment
As you all know Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre is currently undergoing major refurbishment works which will see the rinks temporary closure at the end of October. The Committee have been working hard to secure ice-time for all age groups as well as looking at alternative training methods to ensure the rink closure doesn’t impact the children’s development. Once we have finalised the on-ice training we will let everyone one know. Additionally, we have organised off ice strength and conditioning through Area 515 which will take place at St John Payne School every from 1st November, see details below:

Thursday

7pm to 8pmU9's and U11's
8pm to 9pmU13's, U15's, and U18’s

The rink refurbishment is running slightly behind schedule but is currently forecast to reopen in mid-April 2019. We hope you will be able to attend at least some of the alternative training fixtures that the committee has or is in the process of sorting.

Safeguarding
We would like to remind everyone that Chelmsford Ice Hockey Academy is required to comply with safeguarding legislation:

  • No parents are allowed in the changing rooms
  • Mobile phones are banned from the changing rooms
  • Parents should not be posting pictures / videos of other peoples children on social media

Sponsorship and Fundraising

Sponsorship request
As a non-profit organisation CIHA relies on sponsorship as well as player subs, and fund-raising events. The sponsorship is generally a business agreement where the “Sponsor” contributes to CHIA in exchange for publicity and brand visibility. This money helps improve the infrastructure of the club which means the children can benefit from better equipment and improved coaching.

There are various levels of sponsorship available; Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze packages. Tailored packages are also available where required. If you or your company feel they could support CIHA through a sponsorship arrangement please get in touch with one of the committee members to discuss further.

Chimney Sweeping

As we move steadily closer to Winter there may be those of you that use a chimney as part of your household heating system. Now is the time to consider getting your chimney swept to reduce the risk of a chimney fire, so, if any of the parents of academy players need this service Mark Hagon, owner of Chelmer Chimney Services is offering to donate ALL of his fee to the academy.

They are currently taking bookings from December, but you are more likely to get a booking in January / February 2019. Contact Sandra on 01245 258406. Or for further details http://www.chelmerchimneys.co.uk

Charity Walk
7 mums past and present are set to pound the streets of London on the evening of the 22nd September to raise much needed funds for childrens cancer research. The shine walk starts at Southwark Park finishes at Tower Hill.

If you have any spare pennies please donate on their just giving page https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/team/hockey-mums-beating-cancer
