The First Team dropped two more points at home against Knighton on Saturday. In a game full of incidents, Colin Reynolds rescued a point for us with 4 minutes left.
We made a bright start to the game and put our opponents on the back foot winning a number of corners in the first 10 minutes without testing their keeper. A slip in our own defence by Colin Reynolds allowed their striker to run in one on one, Kris Williams in goal stood up well though and made a fine save. Minutes later we conceded a penalty, Williams in goal was adjudged to have made contact with the Knighton winger, the referee failed to award a penalty with the linesman pointing to the corner flag first and then signalling for a penalty, even though he was on the opposite side of the pitch. Their striker dispatched the penalty to see them take the lead. Ten minutes later keeper Kris Williams was forced off through injury, Drew Reynolds replaced him with defender Daniel Lewis taking the gloves. Lewis made a smart save with his feet within minutes of going between the sticks in one of their only other attacks. Ben Jones had a shot blocked on the line and Richie Evans had a goal ruled out for offside as we looked to get back on level terms. Knighton were harshly reduced to ten men just before half time, their defender pulled down Peter Rees just inside their half after a quick breakaway. We failed to create any meaningful chances as we went in 0-1 at half time.
The second half continued like the first with Knighton defending well. Our best chances were coming from set pieces with Ioan Humphreys, Jordan Jones and Drew Reynolds all heading over. Ben Jones hit the bar with an effort as we pressed on. A golden chance fell to Richie Evans, his shot went straight at the thankful Knighton keeper though who made a fine save. Harry Holt had a volley well saved and substitute Andrew Evans had a tame shot stopped. Keeper Daniel Lewis in goal was a spectator during the second half, he collected two high crosses played into the area but wasn't required to make any saves. As we entered the final five minutes a Knighton substitute made a fantastic block to a goal bound shot from Ben Jones, in the scramble he suffered a nasty cut and was forced off the field of play. From the resulting corner Colin Reynolds headed home to level the game. During added on time Knighton were reduced to 8 men with their midfielder receiving his second booking of the game. A shot from Harry Holt was the closest we came to finding a winner but our opponents held on for a point.
