Community Volunteer Awards - WINNERS announced

A worthy candidate for the Recognition of Community Volunteers award SID GARSTON Hawarden Rangers

Sid has made a significant contribution to the community with his selfless contribution of time providing a dedicated service which started with volunteering as a Scout Leader in 1984.
Currently maintains the role of vice-president at Hawarden Rangers and has made a significant contribution to the club for more than 20 years including coaching and managing teams, and watching his grandson play in the junior section. A testament to his success is that some players that he coached are still playing at senior level in the first team. This gentleman has also been Child Welfare Officer for the club and is well respected by all members of the club and the Flintshire Junior Football league, parents and players alike.

Retired from the police (with full service) in 2001 he went on to work in the community for social services looking after Michael and his family every Tuesday for the last 16 years.

During the last two years, he has volunteered at the local food bank and has been tasked by the police to become the retired police welfare officer.
