Harts B Triumphant at Old Deer Park

London Welsh v Hertford U13 B – Sunday 10th February 2019

So on this chilly morning, following a lengthy trek into west of the city to Old Deer Park, Richmond, home of London Welsh, I was asked to do the match report which immediately set me in panic as I am still not familiar with all the boys names. So with numb fingers by the end I started to record what turned out to be a landslide victory for Hertford. Here is my attempt at a match report. Probably be the last time I am asked..... {hopefully}

From the off, straight into the opposition half, great passing along the line from Ben to Harry to Ollie, Jason then Ollie Poulter puts down. Try!!! just two minutes into the game. Great start!
The game continues with the backs keeping their line, while the scrum pushed forward which subsequently collapsed resulting in Hertford being penalised to drop back five metres. Hertford recovered securing the ball along the line with Jason scoring try number 2 in just over six minutes. Max powered his way through the opposition to score try number three. The momentum continues for Hertford with minutes in between tries as the ball is kicked forward by Ollie, Joseph picks up and scores try number four. On the off Paul passes over to Jason, he finds the gap and down with another try. London Welsh could not stop us, they had some big players but we were managing to break through their defence. A great tackle from Harry on London Welsh winger where Freddie Morris picked up the ball and scored a try, followed by his next try four minutes later. The first half comes to an end with a brilliant run from Harry but unfortunately got pushed into touch but this did not deter him as minutes later he dodges through three players and scores. With a minute to go Joseph powers tough their defence to end the first half with our ninth try. Second half continues with controlled aggression and a powerful tackle from Paul but unfortunately there was a knock on and the ball was lost to a big winger from London Welsh. Connor stopped him in his tracks, allowing Jason to pick up the ball and run for the try line. Try number ten! The two Ollies scored another try each. We got a little bit complacent and took our foot of the pedal and credit to London Welsh who didn't give up and in the last five minutes managed to get two tries in. Well deserved for them.
Thank you to London Welsh for their hospitality.

Final score Hertford 60 London Welsh 10.
Tries from Ollie P, Ollie C, Ollie S, Harry, Max, Joseph 2, Freddie M 2, Jason 3,

Don't ask me to do this again as I am absolutely rubbish at it and on top of that my fingers got frost bite, I only managed to drink one coffee and missed out on my bacon roll.

Many thanks to Dmitri for surviving the reporters curse and covering the match despite the cold and lack of sustenance.
Many thanks again to Granny Day for shirt washing. Well done to all the B's.

Kind regards
Gareth
