Maidenhead United are delighted to announce that Alan Devonshire has agreed an extension to his current contract which will see our manager remain at York Road until at least the end of the 2021/22 season. Dev shook hands on the deal with Chairman Peter Griffin at York Road this morning.
Now in his second spell with the club, Devonshire is looking ahead to only our third ever campaign at National League level next season. When Dev first joined the club in 1996 - initially on a shared basis with Martyn Busby - the club were operating at an equivalent two divisions below where we are now, in Isthmian League Division 1. Under Alan we won promotion to the Isthmian Premier League in 1999/00 and - following 12 years away from York Road during which he enjoyed hugely successful spells at Hampton & Richmond and Braintree Town - on his return he then took us into the National League with that never to be forgotten National South title success in 2016/17. During his time at York Road Dev has also lifted the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup on 5 occasions, taken us into the First Round of the FA Cup 3 times and lifted the Isthmian League Full Members Cup.
We are sure that all of our fans are delighted as we are to see Alan commit to the exciting future at York Road. In Dev we trust!
