3G Footwear Guidance

By Stuart Berry

What can and can't be worn?

With the new 3G Pitch at the Portslade Sports Centre progressing nicely, we need to start thinking about how we as a club have the responsibility to maintain the pitch by using the correct footwear.

Attached to this new article is a PDF document outlining what can and can't be worn, being mindful that many new players purchase new footwear throughout the summer for the new season ahead, this year can any purchased items for playing matches or training in be matched against the allowed footwear.

The list isn't as bad as it may sound, quite simply there are two absolute no's for footwear and they are 'Bladed Boots or Flat Soled Trainers', please have a look at the document and the pictures, football boots with studs that are either moulded or screw in stud are both perfect and can be used on the 3G surface and grass pitches so these are ideal or indeed 'astro' style trainers that have a moulded rather than a flat surface are good too.

As this will be a brand new pitch, the likelihood is that the sports centre will make sure everyone is wearing the correct footwear and team coaches will also be mindful of what players are wearing on their feet.

Many thanks for your assistance in this matter.
