Planters lose out to Richmond brace

Henery goal a consolation as Speller sees red
Ryman League North Division
Neil Richmond’s brace helped secure the points for Tilbury to leapfrog the Planters who drop to ninth.
After a strong start from the hosts but with a lack of a good final ball it was the Dockers who took the lead in the 14th minute from a quick break down the right, Richmond curling his shot into the top corner from the edge of the area.
The Planters were restricted by some resolute defending having just two shots before the break from Matt Brown and Tim Henery, both comfortably fielded by Dockers’ keeper Lee Butcher.
Toby Aromolaran almost doubled the lead when his far post header from Reece Hewitt’s left wing cross hit the crossbar.
After the break Brown saw his dangerous cross deflected for a corner from which
Liam Jackson’s shot was saved by Butcher.
The Dockers increased their lead with a lovely finish from Richmond who, after being played in by Reece Conway, controlled before hitting his shot on the turn.
Henery gave the hosts hope three minutes later when after a good passing move he cut inside before firing into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
A
Jamie Speller cross from the left flew dangerously across the face of goal but eluded the important touch.
The Planters hopes of securing an equaliser were dealt a blow in the 82nd minute when Speller was shown a straight red for a foul on Conway.
