The preparations did not get off to the best start when the coach carrying the team and some supporters broke down en route to Norfolk and the team only arrived at 2.30pm.
Stamford started brightly and both James Hicks and Rob Morgan had early efforts but neither troubling former Daniels keeper Oli Sutton. Jon Challinor then had a shot saved by Sutton before the home side took the lead through Ryan Miles. A long ball was not dealt with by the Daniels back line and Miles slotted past Dan Haystead to open the scoring on 16 minutes.
The Daniels hit back straight away when Cosmos Matwasa crossed from the right and Tendai Chitiza was on hand to slot home from close range.
Matwasa then scored himself on 19 minutes when he broke free of the Wroxham back line to slot the ball past Sutton into the far corner of the goal.
Stamford then made it three goals in five minutes when Chitiza crossed from the right and Harry Vince controlled the ball and fired the ball past the Wroxham stopper to give the Daniels some breathing space.
The Daniels continued to dominate the first half on a dry dusty pitch and sweltering conditions, and they were rewarded with a fourth goal on 35 minutes. Tom Siddons received the ball and broke free on the Wroxham back line to score his first league goal for Stamford.
Stamford had a chance for a fifth goal when a corner was met by James Blunden and his header was cleared off the line by former Norwich City player Simon Lappin.
Another former Norwich player, Grant Holt was introduced a half time as Wroxham looked for a way back into the game. With six minutes gone, they reduced the arrears when Miles beat the Daniels defence to slot home his and Wroxham’s second goal of the game.
The hot weather was not started to take effect on the game, but Stamford looked to increase their lead.
Chitiza and Siddons both went close and Rob Morgan had an effort go wide of the goal.
The home side went close late on and thankfully for Stamford could not get a third goal which would have meant a nervy finish to the game.
