Tattenhall 2's started their campaign with a home win against Neston 3rd team on a glorious Easter Saturday with the Flacca looking sublime.
Neston won the toss and elected to bat first on a good looking pitch in the searing Tattenhall heat.
Dan Verity marked his return from Bath Uni with a second ball strike, the Neston batsman unfortunate to receive a ball of low bounce, the warning to play on the front foot went unheeded by others. Gary Forster took the new ball and bowled a very tight 15 over spell, 2 dropped catches by Richards and Beddow costing him even better figures than the 3-32 which was his return.
Ryan Spann was introduced after 14 overs and bowled an excellent spell taking 3-26 from his 12 overs. Mel Dobson took over from Gary picking up a wicket and Verity returned to finish off the tail, Neston finishing early on 113 all out and Tattenhall facing a tricky 35 minute spell of batting before tea.
Beddow and Harding opened and both fell before tea at 25-2 after 10 overs. The Neston Captain continued to pick up wickets after tea as he finished his 15 overs with a fine 6-27. Only big hitting from Verity and Sandland helped to turn the situation around and after more wickets it was down to Forster and Dobson to steer the side home to a valuable 25 point win.
An excellent result to get the season going with a trip to Widnes next week and a chance to continue this great start.
