Teversal FC Mourn The Loss Of Archie Bowers

By Kev Newton

We are devastated that we have to report that a former club stalwart Archie Bowers has passed away.

Archie played a massive part in re-establishing senior football at our club back in 1986, taking on the post of Treasurer on the Committee. He attended many sub committee meetings and was involved with the Teversal Grange Advisory Committee that saw the introduction of the Teversal Visitors Centre. Over a period of time Archie’s love of Bird Watching and the development of the Visitors Centre saw him become a key member of their volunteers.

In his working career, he has left a lot of us with fond memories of his time at Sutton Colliery where he was an Electrician. This was were his volunteering in local football developed when he again was pivotal in the development of a Youth Section under the name of his pit. When Sutton Colliery closed along with the Welfare, he took a number of players to Mansfield Health Hydro FC from the Sutton Colliery set up, who would become the keystone of senior football returning to our club.

We now have to say our final goodbye to Archie with his funeral taking place on Monday 4th February 2019 at 3.30pm at Mansfield Crematorium. His family have asked for no flowers please, with any donations going to the Hospice. Lets attend to support Archie’s family, just like he has us.
