Tilbury and Grays Athletic shared the spoils in a game that won't live in the memories, as the game failed to deliver. The result did see Tilbury finish February undefeated and only conceding twice. Tilbury saw the return of Joe Burgess in defence replacing Ryan Ramsey.
The flow of the game saw little goalmouth action and a game littered with offsides and fouls. In the first 30 minutes Tilbury had a succession of corners and a yellow card to Grays Michael Finneran.
On 39 the first serious effort of the half, lead to Tilbury scoring. Defender Lance Akins was pushed in the box by former Docker keeper Clarke Bogard and Lewis Smith scored from the spot.
Tilbury came out strong after the break with Tom Anderson sending a 30 yard effort just over, before Bogard saved well from a Lewis Smith free kick.
The tempo of the game changed from Grays and grew into the game and started to dominate and on 68th minute they were rewarded. Grays Correy Davidson and Tom Anderson chased the ball down near the corner flag, the ball hit the corner flag and fell to Aron Gordon who got passed 2 defenders before playing the ball into Charlie Allen who made no mistake in to an empty net.
Both sides had late chances, Davidson had an opportunity to win it for Blues when he broke clear, but denied by a fine block from Abdus Salami and it is Salami who had the final chance of the afternoon when he nodded wide from a corner.
The whistle blew sending home a good crowd on a beautiful February afternoon.
The result sees Tilbury drop one place to 8th.
Tilbury don't have a game now until 9th March when Maldon and Tiptree travel to Chadfields. 3.00pm kick off.
