Despite the poor conditions, these two sides delivered some high class rugby. Truro ran out comfortable winners, but they knew they had been in a game.
Concerted Camels pressure early in the game had Truro camped in their own 22 and scrambling in defence, but they held out. When Truro scored first with a long range try after a simple handling move, it was against the run of play - but a second soon followed with a strong run through some weak Camels tackling. Camels continued to attack, with Thomas often making good ground, but Truro were more clinical and added a third try to make it 19-0 at halftime.
That became 24-0 early in the second half, Truro's centre barging through some more half-hearted tackling, but Camels kept going and got their reward. Billy picked up from the base of a scrum and charged into the Truro 22, drawing three tacklers into contact but still getting an offload away - Cory was there in support to finish well, and Ethan added a great kick. The rest of the game was even and end-to-end, Truro adding their 5th try only with the very last play.
Truro were worthy and impressive winners, but Camels can take encouragement from knowing they matched them in many aspects of the game, and will wonder how the game might have gone if their early possession and territory had been translated into points.
