Captain Rogers got the day off to a good start by winning the toss and in familiar fashion, WHCC elected to field first on what would prove to be a troublesome wicket after typical Welsh weather throughout the week. Some tight bowling and a little help from the surface resulted in Barry being 114 all out inside 38 overs. Three wickets for Lewis Maidment, two each for Kristian Rogers and Nick Hogben.
We made hard work of the chase in tough conditions. Lots of batsmen caught in the slips with the ball flying through off a length. Mike Bishop and Hogben were a calming influence and saw us almost home. A little wobble near the end meant that chairman Roger Coombs was in full 'onion bag' mode. Thankfully, we sneaked home by 2 wickets, now finding ourselves sitting pretty at the top of the table, just like Wales. A long way to go, and a huge game away to Creigiau in third next week.
